Iran Presidential helicopter crash

WT News24 Breaking: In a televised statement today, Iran’s Vice President Mohsen Mansouri confirmed that contact has been established between rescue workers and two individuals involved in a recent helicopter crash. Mansouri did not specify the identities of those contacted but mentioned that communication occurred on “several occasions.”

State news agencies reported the helicopter crash hours ago, and search-and-rescue operations are now nearing the suspected crash site. Both Tasnim News and Ofogh television, reputable state sources, indicated that Red Crescent workers are in the vicinity and are expected to reach the crash site shortly. Previously, Iran’s Interior Minister highlighted the difficulties faced by rescue teams due to heavy fog and adverse weather conditions hampering access to the remote crash location.

A video clip published by Tasnim on social media showcased the challenging conditions, with low visibility and strong winds evident. The grainy footage depicted rescuers using flashlights to navigate through the darkness, with the sound of gusting winds in the background.

Following the crash, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a statement through Nour News, a source closely linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Khamenei expressed hope that President Ebrahim Raisi and the officials traveling with him would safely return “to the arms of the nation.” He urged the Iranian people to pray for the health of those involved and reassured them that the country’s governance would not be disrupted.

According to Press TV, Iran’s English-language state news agency, two helicopters from President Raisi’s convoy carrying government ministers and officials successfully reached their destination. However, Press TV did not provide details on who exactly had landed safely.

Rescue efforts continue as authorities strive to locate and assist those affected by the crash. The situation remains tense, with the nation awaiting further updates on the safety of President Raisi and the accompanying officials.
