May 14, 2024. Just as the voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections had begun across the country on May 13, surprising news emerged from the capital city Delhi. According to information received from the police, Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal made sensational allegations against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s staff.
Police officials stated that Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal also visited the Civil Lines police station on Monday and alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s private secretary Vibhav had assaulted her. According to police officials, after the alleged verbal altercation, Maliwal also made a PCR call. The officers said that two calls were made around 10 a.m. Then a team from the Civil Lines police station reached the Chief Minister’s residence.
However, what’s surprising is that such a serious allegation against a Chief Minister was made by a Rajya Sabha MP, and so far, neither the Chief Minister’s residence nor the Aam Aadmi Party has responded to it.
Why is Swati missing from the list of star campaigners?
After yesterday’s incident, in the evening, the Aam Aadmi Party released the list of star campaigners for the Lok Sabha elections. After the list was released, discussions about the incident in the morning gained momentum. In this list, the name of Swati Maliwal, Rajya Sabha MP from Delhi, was missing, whereas her name was included in the previously released list. The released list included names of all prominent leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Sunitha Kejriwal, who recently became politically active, and Raghav Chadha, but Swati’s name was conspicuously absent.
Is Arvind Kejriwal pressuring to leave the Rajya Sabha?
If reports from sources are to be believed, a significant development is underway. Apparently, Arvind Kejriwal is pressuring Swati Maliwal, who recently became a Rajya Sabha MP, to resign. Arvind Kejriwal wants to send a prominent senior lawyer, who is supporting his case, to the Rajya Sabha now. Amidst this controversy, when Swati Maliwal reached Arvind Kejriwal’s residence yesterday, she was not allowed to meet him. Meanwhile, the situation escalated to the point where physical altercation ensued, and ultimately, Swati had to contact the Delhi police through PCR for assistance.
