MONROE CO., Pa. – The Stroudsburg Area School District is mourning the loss of their beloved athletic director, Sean Richmond, who tragically lost his life in a Saturday night crash along Interstate 380 in Tobyhanna Township. The Monroe County coroner confirmed that 38-year-old Sean Richmond, a resident of Stroudsburg, was the victim in the fatal wreck. State Police reported receiving multiple calls regarding a person being struck by a tractor-trailer.
Sean Richmond was not only the athletic director but also served as Stroudsburg’s wrestling coach. He was a revered figure in the wrestling community, having achieved greatness as a wrestler himself at Easton Area High School in the early 2000s. Pennsylvania State Police, in conjunction with the Monroe County coroner’s office, have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Richmond’s impact extended beyond administrative duties; he recently marked a significant milestone in his coaching career by celebrating his 100th win as Stroudsburg’s wrestling coach in late 2023.
